I don't think removing something that has not been the main supported
library version for literally *20 years* is caving to short-term
It's not caving to short-term commercial lifecycles to remove something
that has been the obsoleted library version for literally *20 years*.

It has been obsolete for longer than any Fedora supported architecture
has existed.
