Performance improvement: improve scaling to 5K+ installed packages. Since the TeXLive repackaging, my laptop several thousand packages, about half of which are TeX-related (I like to have a fairly full TeX install with all the docs). There are two noticable problems: yum slows down considerably (esp. in transaction check operations), and PackageKit can't handle upgrades of more than 2500 packages at a time.
