Then the syslog severities are configured wrong.  That's not a good
justification for using email rather than syslog.

So, all users on a multi-user system are now expected to dig through
syslog output to see the output from their cron jobs?

And of course, syslog output will now be stored somewhere that is, by
default, world readable, right?
