If I can get this working I'll definitely use a MIME type like
activity/x-slide-activity. I want to distribute this activity when its
finished.

What about using the "application/x-*" scheme? IIRC that is the way to
handle unofficial assignments. An example would be
application/x-sugar-activity-slide or somesuch.
