Yes, that's exactly the sort of thing countr...@laptop.org should be able to answer, once you give them the SKUs you have.
While you might only need one part, the base upper assemblies are constructed from multiple parts, and when they are swapped in there is an inevitable waste. The mechanical, electrical, and communication protocol compatibility is maintained at the interface between the base upper assembly and the rest of the laptop. The parts themselves are not backward compatible within the assembly; you can't take one of the parts off an assembly and expect it to work or fit in another assembly. It might, but it isn't _designed_ to. This is why a source of second-hand parts may not meet your needs, especially if they have been broken down into smaller parts. -- Reference: support-gang@, Adam Holt, 2010-02-01, "keyboards and touchpads will only be available as a combined unit called the "Base Upper Assembly"" Reference: support-gang@, Adam Holt, 2011-04-17, "This new touchpad+keyboard come together as 1-unit, called the Base Upper Assembly (or Upper Base Assembly) and should fit in all XO-1 laptops, if not many/most XO-1.5s too.
