Ok, my problem is not solved. I now have tried different entrys for 'interface' in smb.conf.
Maybe I just misunderstood the config.
'interface' should be a list of ip adresses from where connections can be established ! Please correct me if I'm wrong. Now my ip adress is 192.168.178.49, to only accept connections from 192.168.178.* I entered this in CIDR format:
interface    192.168.178.0/24
But this does not work. I now get the same error message as below.

When I change it to e.g. 192.168.178.1 I get
   WARNING: no network interfaces found
   can't determine netmask for 192.168.178.1
The server now starts up but with this warning. I've also tried 192.168.178.1/255.255.255.0 with no success.

#./samba -d9 -iM single

After the startup I'll continuously get the line with 'dreplsrv_notify_schedule', so it seems that the server is running. But I thinks he is not listening to any interface.

Any clue on how to solve this ?

Ok I think I found my problem:

I added

interfaces = eth0
this should be
interface = some-ip-address

Not it seems to work but only with one interface specified. Now lets test it's functionality.
Thanks for your help

bind interfaces only = yes

to my smb.conf and removed the iptables rules but still the same behaviour. :(

OK. I saw the 445 also failing in your log. You could try to bind your services to one particular interface and remove your iptables rules for testing.

You may have another ldap service running on port 389.

No unfortunately no other server is running and I also allow all connections in iptables (don't know if this is necessary).
homebox:/usr/local/samba/sbin#netstat -tulp | grep 389
homebox:/usr/local/samba/sbin#

Hello together,

first of all I want to thank you for creating such a great project and sharing it with the world. THANKS

I want to create a exchange replacement which acts as:
- Calendar Server for appointments
- Contact Server for contacts
We don't need mail functionality because we have a working mail configuartion. My first question is if those 2 requirements are yet ready to use in OpenChange ?

And heres my problem:
I used the instuctions from http://websvn.openchange.org/filedetails.php?repname=openchange&path=%2Ftrunk%2Fdoc%2Fhowto.txt . While compiling I had no problems, I can also create profiles and sample applications.
The problem is I can't start samba

Here is my smb.conf

cat /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf
[globals]
       netbios name    = OPENCHANGE
       workgroup       = OPENCHANGE

       read only = no

[sysvol]
       path = /usr/local/samba/var/locks/sysvol
       read only = no

I thinks the main problem is related to this:
Failed to listen on 0.0.0.0:445 - NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_ALREADY_ASSOCIATED

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem ?
Thanks indeed
