Information only, this won't affect development, except maybe to make OpenChange people feel a bit more comfortable, or perhaps large corporate users who may care about things like software patents...
OpenChange appears on the Open Invention Network's definition of the "Linux System" at entry 1232 : http://www.openinventionnetwork.com/pat_linuxdef_table5.php . Samba is there of course, along with 2172 other packages :-) OIN exists to protect the "Linux System" from patent attack. You will find lots of well-informed commentary online about how this works. Here's a starting point: http://linux.slashdot.org/story/13/02/26/205210/how-the-open-invention-network-protects-linux-and-open-source-video So, the good people at OIN (and IBM, and their patent lawyers, etc etc) are promising to do their best to help protect OpenChange. Isn't that nice of them! Dan _______________________________________________ devel mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.openchange.org/listinfo/devel
