I don't know if this has changed but I encountered the same thing some time
back when I wanted to test openchange on Centos 5. I started with Samba 4
and got Active directory running like a dream :-) I joined windows 7 systems
and windows 8 systems to the domain and I even got GPO's to work. Man I was
impressed with myself at that stage.

I then decided that I cannot go wrong by installing openchange (BIG
mistake). After mailing this list a few times and talking to Julien I
discovered that you have to start from scratch. It is very unfortunate that
openchange cannot just plugin as it may seem into an already installed and
working SAMBA 4 AD environment.

I was very disappointed but I did not get far when I tried to install
openchange from scratch because all kinds of errors popped up that is not
covered in the documentation. So I am sad that I am not running openchange.
I even tried Zentyal but Zentya (openchanged) out of the box installed
straight forward very easy but still crashed more times than I can remember
so I was forced to go with MS exchange server :-(

I hope it is more stable now with the new release and I envy you that you
had openchange running :-)

I still feel strong about the documentation. They need to spell things out
more for people like me who run to the hills when that first massive error
pops up and there is no mention of a possible cause in any documentation.

Openchange will rock the world if that install doc was more comprehensive...

Subject: [openchange][devel] Openchange 2.2 breakes samba4.1.11

I have been running samba4 in production since version 4.1.6 and I upgraded
to 4.1.11 as this is the latest. I have no problems with samba4 whatsoever.
I built the same environment in a virtual machine and I compiled
openchange2.2 against it.

Before compiling the openchange, samba4 was working perfectly, but after the
openchange was built, samba4 gets broken really bad. I am running the setup
on Fedora20x64. Is there a special way to build openchange against a
functional samba4 without starting from scratch? Even for testing purposes,
I should be able to integrate openchange into a samba4 that has been running
for months. What am I doing wrong?
