Hi All,

A technical note about some of the cool development and technology we're
working on @OpenChange.

In a previous email I was referring to the OpenChange setup and
deployment complexity as a significant factor that had negatively
impacted adoption so far. At the other end of the spectrum, the
complexity of the technology along with the long learning curve required
to contribute to the project have also prevented the development
community from growing significantly.

For some time now, we are working on a new technology that let you
develop OpenChange server backends as a Python script or consume a REST
API, therefore removing the C programming language "constraint".

It is still alpha technology but we are making steady progress. As of
today we are able to use this technology with any Outlook version
running in online mode and perform many operations related to folder,
message, attachments semantics, handling of restrictions etc. The
default developer environment comes with a flask mock server for you to
try things quickly.

If you are interested into this development, it may just be the right
moment to jump in and give some feedback. The development is solid
enough to discuss and test real things quickly and young enough to allow
change of direction for the greater good.

* The source code is available on jkerihuel/mapistore-python branch:

* We are providing an environment based on docker for you to deploy and
try out the technology very quickly:

* The REST API documentation:

* The documentation on python bindings for unit and functional testing:

Cheers,
Julien.
