Hi Jamuel,
There is no need to create a new branch for 1.7.2 as this is a minor
release - it is part on 1.7 branch. We create branches only for major
releases.
On the other hand, indeed, I forgot to tag the 1.7.2 - I just did so
now; see http://opensips.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opensips/tags/1.7.2/

You might also consider creating 1.7.x branches or maybe create a releases
directory to show your frozen public releases:
