Guys, Joost asked me to have a look to the bumblebee in the main tree. I tested it and it works flawlessly, except for bug 3301 (http://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3301), which however affects also our version.
There are two issues I see in switching to the Gentoo version. First is on bbswitch: we moved it from sys-power (where it is on Gentoo) to x11-drivers, in order to let Entropy tag it for all the kernels. The bumblebee ebuild in Portage correctly manages the dependencies (RDEPEND="bbswitch? ( sys-power/bbswitch )"), but I don't think Entropy will prepare it for every kernel.
