Hi guys, I think that there are three major target testing distro:
1. test libraries linking, program execution and programs integration 2. Test installation stuff (uefi, anaconda, etc,...) 3. test desktop stuff (gnome, video cards driver, etc,..) For point 1 I think that a best solution is optimize and upgrade docker scripts done by Ettore (there are a lot of new features to use) for: * test sabayon from scratch process (from gentoo stage3) and verify build stuff and sabayon/sayon-distro overlays * supply to users a tools for create public or private repos for customized packages or private packages (this could attract enterprises to use/test distro) * create test suites tool for automize test of main software * create docker files for specific tasks to supply at users a way to maintains and simplify continuous delivery of server side services (freeradius, nginx, etcd, openstack, glusterfs, etc.) and customized configurations Moreover, for a lot of modules it is possible create scripts for automatic test to run on LXC/LXD or docker containers more fast of virtualbox/qemu vm. I already begin to work on this but I think that before August/September it will not be ready. For point 2 some check could be done with virtualization stuff (virtualbox, qemu) but not all. Some issue are depend by hardware and yes for this it is needed testers For point 3 some test could be done with LXD with containers. Through lxd profiles is possible supply video card device (or for sli cards a single card) to a container. So, some tests could be done automatic but not all, and yes some more testes can help distro. Another option is use Suse tool openqa per test gui/desktop software but here Ettore is the expert. Currently, I'm in holidays but when I return I will try to work on this. My cent. G.
