The way I have explained is it to think of sit next to a learner driver,
white-knuckled, and giving advice.

The P part is you saying: slight turn, not sharp turn
The I part is: you started the turn late, you will need to spin the
steering hard now
The D part is: your are turning too fast, and will overshoot at the current
rate, so start straightening up.

In a blind leading the blind scenario, I have been told by others that they
understood what I was explaining :-)
