We had implemented such detection in the past: checking for particular
svn revision number. However this detection is not possible anymore with
git. Moreover it wouldn't make sense to keep working with the svn
revision while improvements we (will) need are within latest git
revision.

We are not yet compatible with recent git revision, but I'm confident
this will be done soon, maybe lead to an intermediary release.
