Hello,

Thanks - will check those out - the last time I tried with the "apt-get source openchangeclient" etc, I could not rebuild it using the dpkg-buildpackage commands (I was trying to rebuild with a small change so I could use the functions from a C++ program).

Will it be feasible to build debian packages out of the SVN repository - there seem to be a lot of interesting changes that happen between releases.

Another (probably not directly related question): any thoughts on having the evolution plugin in a debian format.

Again - will be glad to help out - though will need instructions and some guidance.

Thanks,

Amit Joshi

I hate to ask this but will there be debian packages or instructions on
how to build them? I don't mind helping out in building them (I am
relatively familiar with the Debian packaging and rebuilding packages
etc. but not with the Samba and Openchange)

There are openchange packages in Debian experimental these days, see:
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=openchange

I'll see if I can upload new packages once the new libmapi release is
out.

Cheers,

Jelmer

Hi List,

We have pushed a lot of efforts in libmapi since 0.7 release (April
2008) and we are now convinced - given our state of development and
progresses - that we need to cut down a new release soon.

Furthermore, there has been a lot of advances in Samba4 since
samba4-alpha5 release and coupling openchange with samba4 release has
been a major advantage for users willing to install openchange
seamlessly.

After discussing with Andrew Bartlett from the Samba team, he told us he
would presumably be able to push another release out between mid and end
of October 2008.

This is the reason why we have decided to schedule libmapi-0.8-ROMULUS
release for end of October (pending samba4-{alpha6,beta1} one) and
obviously work on libmapi-0.8 pending tickets in trac. This also means
they won't be new feature additions but the ones already scheduled for
libmapi-0.8 milestone.

In the meantime, this requires OpenChange to move from samba4-alpha5
release to recent/up to date GIT revision and track down changes in
samba4 the same way we did in the past.

I'll post a reply to this news when openchange has been tested with
recent samba4 revision, is known to work properly, and the build system
has been updated to reflect this change.

Cheers,
Julien.
