Hi,

I've been testing libmapi for some time now and got it - more or less
- working with the svn679 packages on Ubuntu Intrepid. I'm using stock
Evolution 2.22.3-1-0ubuntu1 packages.

There are some issues I'd like to drop here, maybe some of you can
take a look at them. I'll send a separate mail to the list per issue
as to keep them apart.

First issue: at program start, Evolution seems to enumerate all Public
Folders available (and most of their child objects). This makes
evolution start pretty slow, as we have quite some of these folders. I
don't use them, but still they are enumerated and presented when I
start Evolution. I am on a pretty slow WAN link to our Exchange 2007
server so this is unwanted behavior.

I would rather have Evolution present these Public Folders only on
demand or on some sort of subscription basis. Outlook seems to do
this. When I start Outlook, I am not presented a whole lot of Public
Folders by default, but I can opt-in to some of them if I want to.
Maybe Evolution can do the same? Does the current Evolution / libmapi
framework allow for a solution like this? I can see there are
'subscribe to other user's folder' and 'permissions' options, but
neither seems to do anything.

Maxim Burgerhout
