we should think about what variables should be exposed by the pkg-config
file. Currently, it contains a lot of things, e.g. warning and
optimization flags. The seem to be necessary for the libbsd:

undefined reference to `uiomove_fromphys'
Without the -Wl,--gc-sections the libbsd link fails.
