Hi Guys,

I noticed this in the XFree86 4.3.0 release notes:

> We have plans to make the configuration file optional in a future
> release. The XFree86 server is close to being able to
> automatically determine a complete base configuration for most
> popular hardware configurations.

How does this affect installable modules such as our drivers (soon to be
released) that can support multiple chipsets that are already supported
by existing driver modules? The same would go for NVIDIA, ATI and Matrox
binary only drivers - how would they be handled?

I guess the quesiton would be, one we install our own driver module that
replaces the regular modules, how would we hook into the automatic
configuration system so that the XF86Config file is never needed? Right
now I am just about done on the code our installer uses to create an
XF86Config file completely automatically (actually it just modifies the
existing one) for our drivers. It would be nice to eliminate that code
;-)

Regards,
