The easiest way to get the via driver without damaging your Red Hat supplied X installation, is to wait a few days or so, and I'll be integrating it into XFree86 4.3.0 in rawhide. Rawhide XFree86 should be a fairly clean upgrade from the stock RHL 9 XFree86. It'll likely be in 4.3.0-14 or 4.3.0-15.
