I missed the original message so perhaps this was already mentioned, but I tried one called "wm2" which is almost the most primitive window manager possible - you can resize & close windows and bring up a menu to launch Xterm. Changing anything requires hacking the source, there are no configurable features. You can apt-get it on Debian.
