you do want to report, 2D is okay, but there are performance issues and some glitches in 3D?
if yes, then this roughly matches what is expected state of the art. 2D is solid and maintained by XF86 whilst 3D is hardening in DRI project for almost some time and the last merge back into XF86 CVS should have happened some 2 months ago. two things will happen: xf86 4.4.0 will get releases in some near time frame (week to months), and development on drivers will continue for 2D and 3D. bug reports on showstoppers for the next XF86 release are greatly welcomed and bug reports for less ciritical flaws will be helpfull for any future release after the "hot" X4.4.0 release. i suppose that DRI people will make efforts to provide fixups for pending issues and then provide a) drivers for latest XF86 snapshot and b) for latest XF86 release (X4.4.0) to satisfy users. case b) might migrate to the hands of Linux distribution vendors over time. -Alex. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2003 12:22 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: State of radeon driver > > > I have installed xfree86 4.4.0 rc1 on my laptop (an acer > 1455LMi_ATI, with an > AMD 600+cou, 512MB ram, and rdeon 9200 graphics).
