Thomas is the Sis maintainer and he updates the sis driver in xfree86 cvs regularly. They are the same driver for the most part. The changes he makes usually find their way into xfree86 within a day of two of him adding them. if you are using an older release of xfree86, then the driver is not as up to date as what's in xfree86 cvs or on Thomas' site.
