I'm currently developing my first device driver for linux. The device is a pointer device for X and runs off the serial port. I've looked at xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/input/sample/sample.c; however, it has the warning:

/*
 * THIS SAMPLE INPUT DRIVER IS OUT OF DATE. DO NOT USE IT AS A TEMPLATE
 * WHEN WRITING A NEW INPUT DRIVER.
 */

but does not specify where I should go to find up to date information. Does anyone have any info on where to find current information?

Thanks.

Steve.
