Hello,

Been following the mythbackend plugin conversation with great interest. I
love the idea of moovida picking up pvr-type functionality. There is one
fundamental thing however that I feel differently about apparently, and
that is the "LiveTV is a recording as any other is..." (quoted from one of
Michaels mails, but seems to me this is shared by many) mindset.

I'm a long time "vdr + one of the xine-based players" kind of pvr user.
Over the years I've tried probably all the other pvr solutions for linux
aswell, but always found I miss one feature in vdr that seemingly no other
pvr in linux can match: channel changing speed. As I understand, vdr
doesn't by default record the shows in LiveTV use case, but insted streams
them to the player. This makes a huge difference when changing channels,
and this has always been the deal breaker for me, the channel surfer. :)

Now, just wanted to voice in at this point, that channel changing speed is
of great importance to some of us old-school tv-watchers. Here's hopig that
this can be made a priority, maybe gstreamer is flexible enough that it can
stream the stream to the player as soon as possible and only after that
start thinking about recording it...

just my €0.02
