Personally I have a bit of an issue with this. There's quite a thriving geneological data transcribing community working on open projects such as OpenBMD whereas Ancestry seem to be poaching people from this to drive their own profits at the expense of these free workers. Perhaps if there was a guarantee that in n decades the digitised data would be available free of charge/at cost, I'd be happier (after all, the documents are hundreds of years old, we can wait another half-century...)
