Here's a few random ideas that I wont have a chance to do, but thought it was worth sharing incase someone is desperate to do an election related project.
Richard -- Policy / citation engine -- Simple system where people can commit a policy for a party and assign a source. The source could be a news article, an election leaflet, parliamentary debate etc. When submitting a policy the user summarises it plain language then assigns a category and tags. Think delicious.com (I have sketches for this if anyone is interested). -- Video archive -- Scrape all youtube/vimeo videos put out by parties and candidates, then have a page like the beeb's democracy live where the latest are displayed. This is a cut down version of what I'd like to do which is add videos candidate to TheStraightChoice.org (which are much more interesting, but need crowdsourcing as they arent tagged properly) -- I went into politics because ... -- Try and use the TheyWorkForYou API and google to and do term extraction on why a particular MP went into politics (Might not work, but worth a try). e.g. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Caroline+Spelman%22+%22I+went+into+politics+because%22&aq=f&oq=&aqi= -- /* [email protected] memespring.co.uk ++44 7976730458 memespring (flickr/skype/etc) memspr (aim) */ -- /* [email protected] memespring.co.uk ++44 7976730458 memespring (flickr/skype/etc) memspr (aim) */ _______________________________________________ Mailing list [email protected] Archive, settings, or unsubscribe: https://secure.mysociety.org/admin/lists/mailman/listinfo/developers-public
