Paul I think it is a good idea and maybe we can have a one stop shop where
links to articles are posted for example it would be helpful if we could see
what candidates answered to questions from the local paper.

Subject: [mySociety:public] An idea (probably too late for this election).

I have had lots of individual questions from voters, some very similar to each
other which obviously get very similar replies.

However I have also had some standard cut and pasted questions over and over
and over ! Some email and some, the same, by post.

I think it would be far more useful if the standard questions could be hosted
somewhere online, and then each candidate could answer them once, and each
candidates reply could be seen along side the others.

Some of the questions/responses received are to be published on organisations
website or magazines etc but a single website where a candidate can login an
answer the whole lot in one go would be very useful.

A sort of 'The Straight Choice' from candidates questionnaires.

The worst thing about some of the questionnaires is those from organisations
that you know are going to hate you for your responses - while you are equally
sure that most other candidates will be doing a 'no show' rather than actually
giving honest (if unpopular) responses - but I guess sticking your head above
the parapet and getting (undeserved) flack is the difference between believing
in democracy with an informed electorate and just being a 'politician'.
