Ladies and gentlemen, some of the second-hand servers I advertised a few weeks ago have become available again. Would anyone like one or more?
Please note that the collection point has now moved to WC2, collections need to take place on weekdays during (or very soon after the end of) normal office hours, and preference will be given to people able to take them away ASAP because our current storage is time-limited. See below for all the details, and let me know if you're interested. Our old servers need new homes To: [email protected] Hello all After several years of hosting, we've migrated out of Easynet's Brick Lane Data Center, and now live on virtual machines hosted at a top secret location in the north of England. Most of our old hardware is no longer in use. It’s redundant. We don’t need it any more. But we don’t want to throw it all in a skip, that would be terrible. Sooo... we’d like to find a lovely new home for it all. And this unique opportunity to own a piece of mySociety may be of interest to YOU. Would you like to take some hardware off our hands? If you feel guilty about relieving a registered charity of its assets, you can even make us a donation <http://www.mysociety.org/donate/> (voluntary, but we’d be appropriately grateful). The Rules: 1. The servers don’t come with disks: as part of our privacy procedures, all disks have been removed and destroyed to protect our and our users’ data. 2. You’ll need to be able to pick them up from a central London location (N1) within the next 2-3 weeks. Note that they are large and heavy so you may well need a car. 3. We probably won’t be able to do courier collection of any kind, sorry. Strong preference for people who can actually turn up in person and take machines away. Happy with that? OK then. The machines we have are: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?hl=en_GB&key=tYsSaBwOtzXKIVbS_umhlhw&authkey=CPbvlMwH&hl=en_GB#gid=0 Make your offer by email to [email protected]. The spreadsheet will be updated as items are claimed, and strikethrough means it's already gone. Abi Broom mySociety office manager
