Hello everyone,

I'm Ignas Rubikas from Lithuania, ManoSeimas.lt project (in English,
MyParliament), and I was recommended by Tony Bowden to ask here regarding
PublicWhip.org. We are developing a new test about MPs and parties based on
their voting track record. The principle is that the user would "vote" and
find how well her choices correspond with each of the MPs and parties
votings regarding specific questions, and thus find which MPs/parties best
represent her attitudes on the given questions.

We thought of doing the questions one-to-one with votings, but it turned
out that some good questions have more than one (or even ten) associated
votings. So, we decided to cluster them into broader categories, which seem
to be equivalent to "Policies" in PublicWhip:
http://www.publicwhip.org.uk/policies.php . However, it turned out that
formulating the questions/Policies so as to avoid biases & subjectivity,
and assigning relevant votings is a serious job. There might be important
lessons to learn from PublicWhip and others in this group.

I wondered if anyone here could advise me on what is the best way to go on
with this task? What should I keep in mind or avoid while doing these
things? I haven't contacted PublicWhip.org team yet, maybe it's best to do
this first?

best regards,
Ignas
