As some of you may know, www.police.uk now has *outcome* data as well
as crime data for the UK. The new feature was announced this morning.

There is - surprisingly - no easy way to link up crimes and outcomes.
There is no unique identifier in the system that would allow the
reliable tracking of a report of a crime to an outcome such as a
conviction, caution or decision to take no further action. This has
meant that some heuristics have had to be applied to link up as many
reported crimes and outcomes as possible - the data is not therefore
perfect.

(If this website has given us anything useful it is that there is a
hopeless failure in criminal justice here - many victims of crime
would like to feel that there was a way to find out, at least in
principle, what had happened).

There is an API which I've been promised information about but which I
have not yet seen.
