Here's my first attempt at a "version 1" feature set for deanster. I think something like this could be online soon. Tell me what I'm missing and what I have there that we don't need.
Basic Deanster Functionality a.k.a. Breaking it into bite-size chunks
FEATURES:
This is a bare-bones feature list for the "Deanster" functionality. Some work needs to be done distilling this further and thinking through what else we'd want to include from and architectural perspective to allow future functionality to evolve.
1) Can be built on existing Dean Database
- HQ will load database of existing names/emails
- Each entry is assigned a random password
- Every person is emailed a unique link
- They enter random password, get cookied (optional), then update/approve profile
2) Profiles
- Photo
- 411 info (city/state/zip)
- Homepage
- Favorite Dean Links
- About Me (?)
- Set privacy options
- Get emails from campaign HQ (default ON)
- Get system messages from other users (default ON)
- Show my online status (default ON)
- Show my email/IM information (default OFF)
- (More? Ideally this would be expandible after the fact...)3) Allows people to search for users:
- In their area (by ZIP, City, State, Etc)
- By name
- By keyword (if we decide to have "about me")
