Hi,

Stichting MMBase ('the foundation') wants to take part in the documentation project. The foundation has contacts with a company to deliver some documentation. Our proposal is to write something like this:

1) First steps
- What is MMbase and what is the structure of Mmbase
- How to create a content cloud.
- How to add a piece of content to the cloud
- How to create a new MMbase object type
- Using relations in a JSP page

2) Installation guide
How to install MMbase on the following application servers:
- Tomcat
- Orion
- WebSphere
- WebLogic
- Others?
Using the following databases
- Oracle
- DB2
- MySQL
- Progress
- Others?

3) JSP Tag library user guide/reference
-How to develop a MMbase application using the JSP tag libraries
-Basic JSP usage
-Advanced JSP usage
-JSP tag reference

4) Deployment issues
- Scalability
- Search engine
- Integration with other web applications

Some parts of this list are already documented, we will use/integrate this existing documentation in the final document

I suggest that Jeroen Elfferich (as representitive of the foundation) and the initiator/coördinator of this project Henk Hangyi get in touch with eachother for some details and agreements about the proposal.

Hi,

This mail is intended for users and developers who wished that MMBase
was better documented and are willing to do something about that.

As discussed in the user meeting of yesterday we would like to start the
MMBase documentation project. Goals of the project will be to (1) get an
overview of available and necessary documentation, (2) choose a standard
for documentation, (3) convert existing documentation to this standard
and (4) write documentation on undocumented parts of MMBase.

At this moment it seems very likely that the standard for documentation
will become the XML version of the docbook-DTD (see
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/docbook/ )

If you would like to participate in the project you're invited to join
the meeting next week wednesday (10/7) on 15.30h at the Omroep.nl
(Mediapark, C 107).
