For a customer I have created a table that increases with about 500000 records every month. I would like to run different kinds of queries from this table and I thought about using the autoreport function. I don't want to print out all records from the table, but only group totals. When constructing a report using the autoreport function, you can specify that you only want to print out totals. The generated reports are however very slow.
I debugged the class that creates the query from the report-specifications (SysQueryForm) and found that it did not use 'group by' and 'sum' even though I had specified that I only wanted to print out sums.
Is the autoreport suitable for running these kinds of queries on large tables? An alternative is to use an external application for reporting from this table.
