Hi Henrik.

There have been a lot of answers to your problem.

The correct setup depends on the used client infrastructure. You have a scenario where the Axapta environment is hosted at an ASP, depending in the parts that are hosted you can use more strategies to allocate printers. If only Axapta is hosted I assume that the printers are allocated to the user session on the terminal server upon login. If so you should only have access to the printers in your session (if you have the access rights correct setup).

If you allocate printers on the AOS, the AOS server needs to have access printer at all times where you operate your Axapta environment, if not the user can schedule print jobs, but will not get any output.

In the case you are using one server to operate more AOS instances for different customers and giving the end users access to the printers mapped on the AOS server, all AOS instances will have access to all printers. In that case you need to limit the number of printers visible to each AOS instance. This can easily be done by creating a user in the active directory and attaching the user to your instance. You should only operate one customer with one user. You grant the user rights and maps the printers to this user. Now you can control the usage of printers published for a given instance.

If you need to limit the possibility of connecting to the instance as well, you should read the white paper from Microsoft on the subject Axapta integration in active directory for further information.

Regards

Jesper

Hi Henrik,

on the AOS-Configuration there is a tickbox, which says something like "Use
printer on server". If this checkbox is marked, then the AOS shows you the
printers, to which the AOS has access. Maybe that's the reason.

On the other hand the possibility of an misconfiguration in ActiveDirectory
may not be seen as out of range.

Herbert
