Wow ... So it seems that this must be a case of using the gold ld together with one or several of the "incriminated" linker options from that bug report? I'm asking because - the i386 build uses the same linker (in 32bit version of course) and completes without issues - I've built Qt 4.8.7 in both 32bit and 64bit mode just fine today, in another of my PPAs. Both use gcc 4.9 though, but both also use the additional optimisation options. Thanks!
