https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-60837 should be fixed for 5.9.0. The fix 
is up on Gerrit the whole week already, but the release team is refusing to 
merge it and make an RC2.

If such issues are not cause for a RC2, then why do we bother with betas and 
RCs at all? Just branch off of dev, call it 5.9.0 and follow up a few weeks 
later with 5.9.1.
