That is because qtopia has a bug when no mediaengine is used.
gstreamer can be used, but it has performance problems.
The images from qtopia.net should work, as it uses helix with the free
codecs.
I flashed with the news rootfs snapshot at qtopia.net but when i run:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/alsa$ alsactl -f gsmhandset.state restore

I still can't hear ringtones. Is there another procedure?

Thank you!
you dont need to do this with the snapshots from Trolltech. It has had
audio switching for some time.

Besides, the gsmhandset sets up the audio mixer for making gsm calls.
Any chance of getting the alarm clock to also change states
automatically? It hasn't worked since the auto state change was
implemented.

I just tested this with the latest snapshot I uploaded today. The default state is stereoout and should return to that once a phone call is disconnected.

Yeah nevermind, I just uploaded the latest snapshot and it worked fine, except that the phone isn't reading my sim contacts. Usually a restart of qtopia does it but not this time.
