There's a hint somewhere in the Wiki which suggested to chown /dev/ttyACM0 (once it's there) to uucp:uucp. Maybe that does the trick.
That did help for me. /dev/ttyACM0 shows up for me when I plug in my neo (ubuntu 7.10 gutsy). A note of "chmod uucp.uucp /dev/ttyACM0" on the "flashing neo" page would help... I was stranded for a while. But I still feel a little too cluless on this for editing the wiki myself...
