Will battery be charged while in standby?

I have the feeling that the battery will not be charged when the device 
is in standby (power management mode "dim first, then lock").
Could this be true?

And i think it would be wise to deactivate power management altogether 
as long as the phone is wired up.
Even if it will be charged anyways.
PS: Using a ca. 1 week old scaredycat build.
