Werner,

nothing new about the fact that our friends of the walled garden in
Cupertino don't do UAProf's and as we all equally well know they don't
do decent UA-strings "neither" :

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13248493/detect-ipad-mini-in-html5

etc

(have you seen the one that explains who to 'detect' the gyroscope
specs of iPads using javascript and then 'detect' a mini...the mind
boggles)

;-)

If our fruity friends in Cupertino think, like The Big Satan in
Redmond once did, that UAProf's, decent UA-strings and 'standards' are
not their 'thing', that is their deal but it is by no means an
'excuse' for the open www, open source (ASF) to abide by their 'dictate'.

"Market leaders" come and go and it seems to me that it is up to us --
open source, standards etc -- to keep The Thing going despite that and
well beyond them !
So basically, 'xcuse my French : fuck 'm !
I am deeply convinced we would do well to keep UAprof and other,
however flawed 'standards' in and at the forefront to signal the open
www's commitment to open and full compliance and if nothing else to
put to shame those who make bazzilions of the standards, poor deluded
dom quixote schmucks like yours truly have been putting in for well
over 20 years now.

And after IE6 did we not all say "nie wieder" ? The Apple-issue,
Oracle with Java and WebKit going viral...deja-vu all over again ?

All in good spirit,

Regards,

esjr
