Eberhard/Reza/all,

Does the Python/Django support already exist or is that mainly a discussion
and proposal?

I'm invited to talk about Mobile Device Detection for Django tomorrow,
mainly focusing around the MobileDeviceMiddleware

The company behind DeviceAtlas provided this nice example:
http://mobiforge.com/developing/story/build-a-mobile-and-desktop-friendly-application-django-15-minutes
They point out, that it's a "entry level" solution, and (what a
coincidence) DeviceAtlas would be more powerful.
This listing on the DeviceAtlas site
https://deviceatlas.com/resources/enterprise-api-performance
shows which languages are supported so far btw. Aside from Ruby which I
barely touched myself either, all others seem to be in the pipeline or in a
working state.

I think what should encourage us most is a comment on above 15 Minutes
Django post:

>I would like DeviceAtlas formed part of procces of device detection,
although the ideal would be to >implement the interface proposed by the W3C
(http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/PR-DDR-Simple-API->20080917/<http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/PR-DDR-Simple-API-20080917/>
).
Which is exactly what DeviceMap is about[?]

Even a bit older, from a time when WURFL was still open is this entry:
http://www.chicagodjango.com/blog/mobile-web-development-django/

Aside from other languages like Java, the HandsetDetection.com service also
has various clients, including Python:
https://code.google.com/p/handset-detection-python-api-kit/

Especially the JSON/REST approach could be interesting, given the Web
Service written in Java (or other languages) we have could just be consumed
in a similar way.

Regards.
