Milosz, you are correct regarding your description of the client. The OpenDDR client had some core problems, most notable:

-did not build out of the box due to dependencies

The rewrite accomplished the following:

-Apache licensing
-simple design, easily portable to other languages
-performant, classification runtime is well under 1ms
-the client uses a more generic pattern classification algorithm, accuracy is more predictable

could you explain me what is the purpose of devicemap* modules. I looked
into java client code and they looks like *standalone* applications,
which use user-agent string to recognize device. Am I right, or I'm
missing sth?
If I'm not wrong, then what is relation between these modules and
openddr library, which is also part of project and does the same thing?
