-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi,
I have to agree with Kevan, to the casual onlooker it may seem that DeviceMap is sort of forking itself partly on GitHub... I understand this is mainly due to technical issues with infrastructure. I'm not in a position to comment either way seeing as I'm not familiar with the platforms/frameworks/... But I see Kevan's point and the valid objections that can and probably will be raised. For DeviceMap to be part of the larger Apache community has clear advantages. However if the DeviceMap community thinks the infrastructure issues are such that they impede DeviceMap's progress, so be it. My primary interest lies with device and user-agent detection, keeping the 'art' alive and 'out there' [queue violins etc]. I may have missed a few mails -- recently more mail ex-apache.org has bounced here -- but I did pick up something like "ODDR might be dead (trying to confirm this)". That would make the data issue all the more acute. It is definitely something I like to know more about, very ASAP ! I also think that with regard to the data, apart from the technical infrastructure issues surrounding setting up a site, CRUD etc, other issues come into play. One of them would be quality control, another involves policies communities like Apache set up and enforce to protect them from legal trouble like the ones I understand ODDR saw in the past. So, there's activity in the DeviceMap community alright, only I wish I knew whether it is the right kind and what the deal is with ODDR... esjr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.8 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJTsOQeAAoJEOxywXcFLKYcCQ0H/1IV7rxKCCSlkmz13mfOHdZN z8E8/kkbYaphYVMHuM+9t0QYYurvmdy9viRkq7AL7eaDT40t9Ku7XN2DLOHyOsCR 4QeVKBiRt0vpE4kHcLDS9adM9cIpGsw4osoalXhj6uvclGyCrSGgh70mhx79i/yx n8Rs/Ko+j4WFDbi6ytqbvP9V4tNSYNUynVPqMiCTQgdCPaj32Xro9SsrauYeQWcB CXj2m6AiueGzFxlS877saOc6j+EnUo1yABYJoJi3++CcJePu7x6mYp6Yut1Tshxi sg1pLqQB06eCwU1StvBjcRS9/8CKUSywUYdP+UPlUl+sJFdYhBBsX2AIBAnGxQk= =nknA -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
