All,

I looked at the data both 1.0.1 and prior versions. In fact, the
"desktopDevice" was always in the Patch file to override and customize the
device (e.g. resolution your apps and desktops have, especially in
companies) so while a "genericDestop" seems fine in the main file, could we
simply move the "desktopDevice" there?

This other "patchDevice" is an empty stub. IMHO for special devices,
phones, tablets, wearable, etc. it could also work well there (unless we
maintain them elsewhere) but a "desktopDevice" to override genericDesktop
seems better here, too.

Keep in mind (and since e.g. builder classes were messed up several times,
I have to agree with Eberhard on sometimes hasty changes, mostly by Reza)
there are not just our Java or .NET clients, but quite a few (~a dozen
maybe more) implementations in other languages. If they find OpenDDR no
longer maintained often enough, they seek an alterative and DeviceMap aims
to offer the best alternative to them. Most stick to W3C, so at least for
1.x data the clients shall be compatible with that, even if an altrnate
client may offer say faster performance or flexible loading of data from
JAR, online URI, etc.
