You should be looking in
/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0/30dialup
However, if you are using e-smith 4.0, then you can enable the modem
speaker using:
/sbin/e-smith/config set DebugPPP yes
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
To disable the speaker, do:
/sbin/e-smith/config set DebugPPP no
# or, alternatively,
# /sbin/e-smith/config delete DebugPPP"
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
