        This is unnecessarily complex.  If you're on a dial-up, just enter your
ISP's SMTP server on the "other email settings" page under "Internet
provider's SMTP server".  If you're on some kind of persistent
connection (DSL, cable, frame relay, whatever), it shouldn't be a
problem.
