We don't plan to support configuring more than two cards from the
console at this stage. e-smith is currently designed around having
either one or two cards. We recently made changes so that extra cards
were left alone - previously /etc/{modules,conf}.{conf,modules} would
delete all eth* aliases and then add eth[01].

Properly configuring extra Ethernet cards will require underlying
design changes - dhcpd.conf, masq, smb.conf, atalk.conf, etc.

ifup is templated - I hope you've been creating a custom template...

We're still discussing the separate DHCP Hostname parameter, but it
certainly makes sense to me and fits in with other "account/password"
information for other external configurations.
