Ok I have 2 problems:

1) Firstly I can't get the log files to be mail to my admin account - to
check daily backups? I spoke to tapeware but they say that you must "click"
on tool>configuration etc. I have replied to them and explained that there
is no X-windows. You need to install the SMTP e-mail option from the
tapeware install script. Here's what they have told me :

"Yes there is. Once you have installed the SMTP E-mail option, go into
tools -> configuration -> SMTP E-mail. You will need to enter the name of
your mail server and the port it uses. Once that is done, go to the
securities tab. Right click on the Admin user (or whoever will be running
the job) and go to properties. Go to the e-mail tab and enter the addresses
you want the logs sent to.

2) This problem is a bit more serious: Once you install tapeware - upon
exiting it asks you if you want to start the tapeware service now? I say yes
and carry on. However when you reboot the server and check to see if the
service is running , it isn't:

 ./usr/local/tapeware/twunxsvc -q

TapeWare Service Control Manager for Unix
Version 6.20 29-Dec-00 (Build 11320)
Copyright (c) 1985-2000 Yosemite Technologies, Inc.
All rights reserved

Status : Stopped
: The service is not currently running

I then have to manually start the service:

 ./usr/local/tapeware/twunxsvc -s

The reason why this is important, is that if the service isn't running then
scheduled backups won't start. All why want to know is where/which file etc
I must edit to get that command-line to run at startup (innitab, rc.d???)

Regards
BF
