I looked at it for a few minutes the other day. The tarball should
work fine. I got it installed but gave up during the configuration as
I had more pressing matters to work on. Maybe I'll try getting it
going at home instead of at work.
Being new to e-smith I wouldn't really know anything about creating
an interface or rpm, though. I'd like to get into this in the future,
just not right now. ;)
