OK. I got it to work. I stopped all instances of httpd and then started
them again, and that seems to have made a difference. Thanks for the tips
and goodbye to my serialization problems:-)

The file is there (I did install mod_php) and the error I get is something
like (I backed out of the install) image /usr/lib/libphp4.so not loaded.
It is clearly there.
